WORK HISTORY: Current: RETIRED. Mar 2002 – Jan 2011: NW DIVISION CONTROLLER / DIR. OF REIMB. Life Care Centers of America Cleveland, TN & Federal Way, WA The Controller position (2006 – 2010) reported directly to the Division V.P. of Operations regarding the monthly financial statements of over 30 nursing homes and made recommendations for the financial health of each home and of the division. In addition, this position directed the annual budgeting process and consulted with the Corporate office regarding the budgets. In this position it was important to be able to work effectively with all levels of staff. The Reimbursement position (2002 – 2006) functions are described below. Jul 1985 – Mar 2002: DIRECTOR OF REIMBURSEMENT / INTERNAL AUDIT SPECIALIST Sun Healthcare Group Albuquerque, NM & Tacoma WA The Reimbursement functions included preparing and analyzing Medicare and Medicaid cost reports, reviewing financial statements, responding to government audits and managing a staff of between five and eleven persons. The Internal Audit position included monitoring various aspects of the company’s government compliance and reporting responsibilities. This company went through Chapter 11 reorganization while I was employed with them. Through that experience, I gained a rich knowledge of the financial structure of a business, and learned to recognize the signs of both a healthy and a failing company. Jul 1975 – Jun 1985: BUDGET ANALYST / SR. REIMBURSEMENT ANALYST Hillhaven Corporation Tacoma WA I performed several finance-oriented functions during my 10 years with this nursing home company.
