I know many people include cover letters with their resume. But, I can't get any responses and was wondering if I was doing something wrong. Any advice on how I might make a truly stand-out cover letter? If someone can post up their cover letter, it would be much appreciated.

I use cover letters. I think it helps to outline your strengths and how you suit the post you are applying for. Perhaps you post your cover letters here for our comment?

I also use cover letters to point out why I'm good in that job. It's easier to explain for you than that they have to find good points in your resume.

If they are asking for people to work in a team, tell them you love to work in a team. But this sentence is not enough. Every point you say that you are (teamworker, creative, professional, hardworking, etc.) you have to explain !!!! This is very important. Saying something like "I'm creative so perfect for the job!" makes no sense. Say something like this:
"I'm creative, I follow a painting test and draw a lot as a hobby. Also at previous projects my teammembers liked my ability to come up with creative ideas." (if you don't draw, think of something else of course) But explain every ability with an example.

I do attached a cover letter to every job application. The thing is that you need to really "guide" the targeted hiring manager in following thru what you intend to tell him/her.

You need to realize that there are lots of other applicnts submitting their letters too. How you stand out in those bunch of letters will greatly depend on how you plan your cover letter. As I always practised - put in point form!

By putting your skills and expertize in point form, it will grab the attention of the hiring manager when read thru. If they are interested, they will continue to read on. This will increase your chance for getting interview session with them.

Good luck.

I always do a coverletter. I just think of it as my first impression on a posible employer and use it to outline what I can offer to their company and always try to include something that will make me stand out from the rest of the applicants. Sometimes I wonder if employers just skim your cover letter and make the decision on whether or not to intereview you from that?

I also do a coverletter and I think it helps me a lot. It helps me to emphasize those good points that I have. It helps me to explain easier those points in order for the company to notice those good points.

Oh yes. cover letter is important indeed and it should be done right. It's crucial for your cover letter to engage and excite the employers to the point that they look forward to examining the rest of your application material.
This site explains the basic format and has some good examples. hope it helps

Your cover letter is the first impression any editor will have of your writing abilities. Therefore, the cover letter should be straight forward and concise. Copy some great formats. Dont think about going original. Use proven methods.

You know what they say, first impression is the best impression. In that sense cover letter is a very important part of your application. It should articulate clearly why you are the perfect person for this particulary position. I'm working on my cover letter right now. I'll post it here when i'm done.

Cover letter is very important. It's purpose is to sell your resume. Don't use the same format everybody use. Your's need to be unique otherwise you will lose your competitive advantage. Make sure your cover letter is targeted as possible.
