My background is as an HR Generalist and prior to that General Business Manager. I'm returning to work after 4 years raising small children. I need a flexible/reduced hours schedule. I am thinking that my scheduling needs and challenging work could be found working for a HR consulting firm..I am reluctant to start consulting on my own, but believe I would make a valuable contribution as a part of a larger team. Does anyone have insights to share or advice about working in a larger HR consulting company.

I believe it should be the same thing as any consulting company. You submit the hours that you are available and they will try to find something that fits your schedule. Doing a good job will put you on their higher up list to get your more and better assignments. Good luck!

I think nelson is right you can join any consultancy firm and tell them your working hours and i am sure they will give you projects suiting your experience and timing.
