Ok. I need advice. I just graduated from college in May. I have a BA. I am currently working and I have had a few yrs of corporate work experience, working throughout college. I have been interviewing for an HR Assistant position for a private company within the Boston, Ma area. We have not discussed salary yet. However, I need to get a "ballpark" figure before we have that discussion. I was thinking of somewhere between 17-20$ an hr, where I currently make 15.50/hr. Is this reasonable? Am I selling myself short? I need advice! Thank you.

I think you are getting paid reasonably as when i was in training i was getting 15$ an hour and then gradually it increased to 20$ so i think its okie. Well apart from that try and lookout for better oppurtunities.

If you don’t get what you are expecting first keep in mind that you will most likely receive raises. I would ask when you discuss this with your employer. I don’t think that you are asking for to much though.

I think that you are in the right salary range. At my current company in NY, I make $19 an hour and since both MA and NY have the same living expenses, the salary should be comparable.

I think your salary sounds about right as long as there is room to grow and the possibility that with good reviews you will get compensated for your good work. I know it is hard when you really live in an area where salaries need to be higher in order to make ends meet, but if there is room to grow I would plug away at this job.

I think that you are asking for a fair salary, I would discuss with the employer about employee reviews and if raises come with them, that would also give you a little bit of playing room on the salary.

I think that is fair, but when applying to new jobs I would ask how the raises work, is there room for you to increase your salary once you have been there and proven yourself, because for me that would be important when looking into a new job.
