Default How long to wait??? - 08-04-2006 , 04:52 PM

Finding myself back in the job market again, looking for an outside sales position. I relocated several months ago to a smaller city, and found a great job that I LOVE with no problems. But in sending my resume out to the city I'm from (where I want to go back to, for personal reasons), which is MUCH larger, I'm getting NO callbacks. I've sent over a dozen resumes without a response.

My question is, how long should I wait to contact these employers? Is a week a good time, or is it ok to call sooner?

Thanks!

Depends on the nature of the company. Is their culture laid back or extremely competitive? You need to read and respond to them the same way you would to a potential customer.

Usually you want to wait a week or so before calling. You can also put your resume publicly on Career Builder and Monster that should generate some contacts for you

Also consider a follow up letter. I am writing to determine if such and such a position is still available as I would like you to consider my resume, sent in on DATE, when searching for applicants. Something like that. Also, send a thank you note, a personal one, and not an email, if you gat an interview, make yourself stand out to get picked out!!
