Default Can sales and marketing get along? - 06-02-2006 , 04:41 AM

In my jobs (either present or past jobs) I've always encounter situations like cat and dog situations between sales and marketing department. Yes agreed, these two depts are important to an organization. But often than not, they can't see eye to eye and always having conflicts in concepts and implementation.

Do you have similiar experience too? And how your company deal with these conflicting views between these 2 depts? or is your company combine it together under 1dept?

Same here, my company is having 2 seperate dept for sales and marketing. These 2 depts are always having some dis-agreements. I think this is due to the nature of the job scope, sales team would have act upon the plan and bring in the result, whilst marketing team would be more on conceptualize of business plan, they have lesser headaches on the action part.

No, I never saw any conflict between those two departments in my company. Cooperation between the two departments has been good so far. However my feeling is that conflict will inevitably occur.

I don't understand how it's so difficult for sales and marketing departments to get along with each other. They seem to always have conflicts in almost all organizations I've worked with.

Its always a problem here its like a cock fight whenever there is a meeting at my company between the sales and marketing managers, I think its because marketing dept. comes up with new plans and ideas and when the sales team dont meet the required action concflicts occur

I think there is no conflict between those two departments. In fact I think they can help each other and cooperate because they're almost in the same field.

Conflicts and disagreements are bound to occur whenever sales and marketing departments come together for any kinda discussion. If the sales department is able to come up with plans for completing the work assigned to them then there are less chances of conflicts.

Conflicts are going to occur in every department and specially sales and marketing as both are inter related. Thus the management should make efforts to get the representatives of both the departments while making any plans.

There is conflict in everything we do, the key is to take precautions ahead of time. I believe sales and marketing go hand in hand and with out one you will not have the other.
you have to market something to get sales so how can there always be conflict?

Hi, lockhead

In my view marketing and sales two separate fields.these are important departments of any company. In marketing you just advertise your product, while in sales you just sell your product in the market.see more information about marketing and sales in following links.
